Tracking of how well you know each Kanji

The system uses a special algorithm to track how well you know each Kanji. When you test yourself, you simply click whether or not you know the Kanji at that moment. Based on previous testing, JTK will decide the optimum time to repeat that particular Kanji.
What this means in practice is that you don't waste time studying Kanji that you know fairly well. JTK will continued to hit you with precisely those Kanji that you are most likely to be on the point of forgetting.

Create and share word lists

You can create your own word lists based on areas, chapters in books, teachers lists or whatever you like. You can then add words in these lists with the click of a button. Since lists are shared you can simple add words that other students have created as well as using the built in lists that we provide to get you started.

Advanced Search features

Based on the Edict dictionary containing over 100,000 entries. Simply type in the word you are looking for in kanji, hiragana, English or romaji. You'll be presented with a list ordered by how frequently each word appears in modern Japanese with statistics for the 8,000 most common words today. Traditionally, statistics tell you how frequently a particular Kanji is. However, knowing that 日 (sun) is most common Kanji, doesn't help determine whether you should study 日影 (sunshine) or 縁日 (temple festival). With JTK we see that 日 is 74th most common word, 日影 is 6184th and 縁日 is 3629th enabling you to decide what are the best Kanji to learn.
